It is a convenient option for travelers who want quick access to cities like Hakodate, Kushiro, Rishiri, and Memanbetsu.

Okadama Airport opened in 1951 and is operated by Hokkaido Air System and Fuji Dream Airlines. The airport is compact, with a single terminal building, and provides easy check-in and boarding compared to larger airports. A taxi ride from Okadama Airport to Sapporo Station to takes about 15–20 minutes. The fare is usually around 2,000–3,000 JPY, making it a convenient option if you have luggage.

If you drive, the airport is only about 20 minutes from central Sapporo.

The nearest train station from Okadama Airport to Sapporo Station is Sakaemachi Station, which includes service from Toho subway line. From the Okadama airport you could take a taxi to Sakaemachi Station, which takes about five minutes. You can also walk from Okadama airport to the train station in about 20 minutes.

From central Sapporo, you can take the airport bus, taxi, or drive by car. Since there is no train line directly to the airport, buses and taxis are the most common options. The trip takes less than 30 minutes from most parts of the city.

Which Terminal at Okadama Airport is Used for Domestic Flights?

Okadama Airport has only one terminal building, which is exclusively used for domestic flights. Check-in counters, boarding gates, and baggage claim are all in the same floor.

Does Okadama Airport Have International Flights?

No. Okadama Airport only handles domestic flights within Hokkaido and nearby regions. For international flights, travelers must use New Chitose International Airport, located about 50 km away from Sapporo.

Okadama Airport is best if you’re traveling within Hokkaido and want a quick and stress-free airport experience. However, if you’re flying from outside Hokkaido or internationally, you’ll need to use New Chitose Airport. Since the airport is small, arrive about 1 hour before departure much less than the usual 2 hours required at larger airports.
